Scene 1: Moses Calls a Meeting (Again)
Narrator:
Welcome to Vayakhel, where Moses gathers the people (again) to finally build the Mishkan, a.k.a. God’s portable glam tent.
Moses:
Okay fam, we’ve got forgiveness. We’ve got instructions. We’ve got... the will to organize. Who’s ready for a queer community art project?
Craft Team (Chorus):
WE ARE!
Moses:
Great! But remember: One. Day. Of. Rest. Every. Week. No exceptions, not even glitter emergencies.
Israelite Donor #1: (rushing in)
I brought ALL the gold earrings! I literally took them off my goats!
Israelite Donor #2: (sipping tea)
Wow. Someone's trying to get their name on the wall plaque.





Scene 2: Bezalel and Oholiab Go Full Fab
(Bezalel sketches designs while Oholiab hot-glues pomegranate appliqués.)
Bezalel:
Okay, hear me out: Gold cherubim on the Ark with eye contact and tension.
Oholiab:
Love it. Iconic. Very “queer angel drama.”
Bezalel:
And curtain colors? Indigo, crimson, and... hear me out: shimmer-threaded linen.
Moses: (nodding)
I don’t understand half of this, but I trust the process.





Scene 3: TOO MANY DONATIONS
Narrator:
The people brought so much stuff that Moses had to stop them.
Moses:
Okay, okay! Pause the donations! We have more yarn than a queer retirement village!
Craft Team: (buried under fabric)
We can’t even find Oholiab anymore! He fell into the dye vats!
Israelite Donor #2:
Honestly? This is the most overachieving we’ve done since crossing the sea.





Scene 4: Building a Space for Everyone
Narrator:
Bezalel and crew got to work creating a Mishkan where everyone could belong, no matter their tribe, trade, or favorite fabric pattern.
Oholiab: (emerging from a pile of embroidery)
Even the bronze basin was made from donated mirrors! We’re reflecting sacred realness!
Bezalel:
This isn’t just holy work. It’s queer sacred architecture. This is what community looks like.





Moral of the Story:
🧵 Everyone has a role in building sacred space, especially the artists, dreamers, and glitter-wielders.
🛑 Boundaries matter. Even Moses knew when to say “no more fabric.”
🌈 Queer holiness is collaborative, colorful, and always extra in the best way.
🧶 Giving from the heart is a mitzvah. Giving until Bezalel is buried in yarn? Still holy, but maybe chill.
